The Native American Food Sovereignty Alliance (NAFSA) is a growing, Indigenous-led nonprofit working to restore, affirm, and reclaim Indigenous food systems. Our work is grounded in ancestral knowledge, driven by community leadership, and guided by our core values.

We’re looking for people who share our belief that food is more than sustenance. It’s a relative, a story, and a way forward. If you value sovereignty, connection, and collaboration, there may be a place for you here.

What We Believe

We empower communities as they foster traditional, Indigenous food practices to ensure sustained well-being for future generations.

We envision a future where Indigenous peoples exercise their inherent right to self-determination through full control of their traditional foodways.

At NAFSA, we are committed to:

  • Restoring: ancestral wisdom, ecosystems, and governance

  • Affirming: Tribal sovereignty, relationships, and cultural practices

  • Reclaiming: resources, land, and knowledge for thriving economies and communities

Our work is shaped by our Theory of Change which centers ancestral knowledge, resource access, and regenerative economies to build long-term food sovereignty and community abundance.
